Use RFID As Future Event Identification
Now many smart ID card industries have been falling love to the RFID technology. the main problem is just the cost. And with technical developing, many field has change their identification to RFID in recent year. While the control systems and hardware have just been already come into consider.
Costs have plummeted thanks to more streamlined manufacturing processes for the chips/inlays themselves, but most importantly, because developers have come up with cost effective programs through which RFID solutions can run. Added to this the new generation of NFC-enabled, and this leads to a whole new situation where events can realistically begin to consider RFID as a viable solution.
This all sounds great, what can RFID use in the future?
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. Used within the logistics industry to track stock, each RFID chip has a unique ID number that can be assigned, in the event world, to an individual patron and, in theory, allow an event organizer to track the activities of that patron.
NFC refers to Near Field Communications. Within the event environment, a soft epoxy nfc disc tag enabled can actually encode and scan an RFID tags, therefore removing the need for expensive hardware and dedicated RFID scanners that cannot be used for anything else.
Benefit of RFID
1. Security
Unlike other product where forgeries are possible, RFID is hard to copy.
2. Easy access control
Event organisers can take the 'human' element out of gate control and access, and I mean that in a good way. Security personnel make mistakes. They may not notice a replica wristband. RFID Card access control takes this off the table.
3. It's cool
You scan it, it remembers you, it can link to systems that does things like enter you in competitions, offer you a discount on your next drink. It means easier access at events, potentially cashless transactions.
4. Cashless transactions
Have the opportunity to run a completely cashless event is an attractive proposition to both patrons and organizers. For patrons this can mean less risk of theft, less items to worry about.
5. Sponsors love it = potential revenue for the festival/event
At one recent festival, a manufacturer sponsored a scanning station where patrons could scan by RFID tags to enter the draw. The manufacturer is happy because they have collected personal details for 10,000 potential customers, and the patrons are happy because they have entered a prize draw quickly and easily, with no hard sell.
